Roanne’s Race is a dream come to actuality in honor of Roanne Cairel. Before losing her battle with colon cancer at the age of 24, her friends and family told her they wanted to do something for her in her name, to honor her. She expressed that she wanted a 5K for colon cancer research, and they took that idea and “ran with it”.
Roanne’s Race is a 5K/10k run/walk event is postponed to November 7th, 2020.
All of the proceeds from the race will be donated to support the research of colon cancer, specifically among young people. Over our first six years we’ve been able to donate $50,000 to the Colon Cancer Alliance’s newly founded Never Too Young program, which researches, educates and supports young adults with colon cancer under the age of 50, all while putting on a race.
Our goal is to raise an additional $50,000 by 2022 that we will donate to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance research program for their efforts with doctors, scientists and researchers who are all working to end colorectal cancer.
This will bring our total donation to $100,000, and it will make a difference.
