DESCRIPTION:Roanne’s Race Mission is to raise awareness of colorectal cancer as it occurs in people under age 50\, and those of all ages\, through an annual 5K/10K and kids run. Roanne’s Race is inspired by the life of Roanne Cairel. \nRoanne’s Race response to COVID-19 \nThe health\, safety\, and peace of mind of our participants is a top priority at Roanne’s Race. As such\, the Roanne’s Race organizers have decided to change the 8th Annual Roanne’s Race to a virtual event. While we are thrilled to be back on colorectal cancer awareness month\, we are disappointed that we cannot all support this cause together on race day as we’ve done since 2012. That day will come back\, and when it does we will be ready! \nEvent details and schedule-\nWhat should Participants expect with a virtual race? \nParticipants can enjoy their 5K\, 10K or Fun Run at their leisure! Choose your own route\, upload your own results\, and post your own photos from March 20 – March 31\, 2021 using the IYR App. Here you will find step-by-step instructions to download the app\, track your time and upload your finish time online. You also have the ability to manually upload your time. DESCRIPTION:We were all hoping for some glimmer of hope to be able to hold the 38th annual Mount Diablo Challenge this year\, but unfortunately the recent news of increasing infections compels us to postpone this event until 2021.  \nHopefully by then we will be able to have a grand Mount Diablo Challenge and post-ride celebration.   \nOur current plan is to open June 1\, 2021 and the event is scheduled for October 3\, 2021\, the first Sunday in October 2021.  \nIn the meantime\, ride safe and we look forward to seeing you next year!

All finishers 21 yrs and up will receive a FREE BEER thanks to our major sponsor the MARE ISLAND BREWING COMPANY! We will have a Half Marathon\, 10K and 5K courses taking you through natural and historic sections of the island. We will be starting from the Mare Island Brewing Company coal shed location\, running through over 100 years of Naval history and natural beauty\, with a finish line party at the Mare Island Brew Co Coal Sheds! \nOur Half Marathon course will take you through the historic naval yard along the east side of the island\, to the highest point of Mare Island for beautiful views of the Bay\, Mt. Diablo\, and Mt. Tamalpais. It will then run you down by the Old Admiral housing including St Peter’s Chapel (with the largest collection of Tiffany stainied glass in the West!) and out to the sweeping views of the Mare Island portion of the San Pablo Bay trail on the western side of the island. The 10K will take you by the Old Admiral housing and the San Pablo Bay Trail before heading to the finish. The 5K race will run by the Old Admiral housing before heading to the finish. \nAll participants will receive a tech shirt and finishers medal. Awards will be available for Male and Female of every category. DESCRIPTION:26th Annual Trailblazer Race\nWith the pandemic\, it is uncertain if it will be safe to hold our conventional fall race in Mountain View. Realizing that many in our community like to participate in some sort of an event\, we are hosting a virtual race allowing us to continue our long-standing tradition. By participating\, you will not only support a worthy cause but have an opportunity to take charge of your mental and physical well-being. What better way than getting some exercise? With a virtual race you can run or walk anywhere and invite your friends regardless of their location to participate with you! All proceeds help us advocate for the Stevens Creek and Permanent Creek trails—their extension and improvements as well as protection of the wildlife corridors—a gift for the entire community. \nGreat Race for a Great Cause\nProceeds benefit the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail\, a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation\, and the only organization dedicated to extending Stevens Creek Trail and wildlife corridor from San Francisco Bay to the Santa Cruz Mountains. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. \nCovid Considerations\nIdeally\, come September you’ll still be able to go for a run\, hike or walk on the Stevens Creek or Permanente Creek Trails\, but even if the trails are closed\, you can still participate. You may run or walk at any time between September 18-27 making it easier to maintain social distance. To avoid contact with race organizers\, all T-shirts will be sent by mail after the race. Stevens Creek Trail was started in 1993 and currently extends over five miles from Shoreline Park to Dale-Heatherstone in Mountain View\, close to the Sunnyvale border. Cupertino opened its first section of trail in 2010 and has over one mile completed. Los Altos and Sunnyvale are studying possible connecting routes. Individual cities along Stevens Creek actually build the trail\, but it takes many years of preparation and hard work behind the scenes to achieve. Increasing public awareness\, support\, and consensus must come first\, which is the role of the Friends.
