DESCRIPTION:California Golden Bearathlon has roared back to life again at the Berkeley Marina to host three successful races in the past three years. After impressive attendance year after year\, we are prepared to host a fourteenth USAT-sanctioned event in the same location on October 21\, 2023  Bearathlon takes place at Berkeley’s marina\, which protrudes into the San Francisco Bay and offers an ideal situation for both racers and spectators alike. It is secluded from traffic and offers unparalleled views of San Francisco\, the Golden Gate Bridge\, the Bay Bridge and the Berkeley Hills. Additionally\, the marina offers a sheltered cove for safe open water swimming\, a hotel to accommodate out-of-town racers\, and a design that is incredibly spectator friendly. The race course is beginner-friendly and we welcome athletes of all levels\, from new triathletes to some of the top collegiate racers in the country!\nAdditional Information/Registration

Here is an overview of all our events. \nAll prices increase $10 on Sunday\, October 6. \nDRAFT-LEGAL SPRINT\nDistance: 750m open-water swim\, 20km bike\, and 5km run. \nDraft-Legal is a highly competitive race format for experienced triathletes. In comparison to a traditional triathlon\, like the Classic Sprint race\, there are some major differences. Drafting is allowed in the bike portions. Because of the increased danger from drafting\, competitors must have experience riding in packs\, and have excellent bike handling skills. \nEntry fee: Collegiate – $55. Elite – $90. \nCLASSIC SPRINT\nDistance: 750m open-water swim\, 20km bike\, and 5km run. \nThis is our most beginner friendly and most popular event. Drafting on the bike is not allowed. High schoolers will race with the open division. In the classic sprint relay\, teams will divide the three legs of the race among the three members in any way they wish. \nEntry fee: Collegiate – $55. High School – $55. Open – $90. Relay – $150 per team. \nMIXED-TEAM RELAY\nDistance: 250m open-water swim\, 5km bike\, and 1.2km run. \nBearathlon’s first ever Mixed Team Relay will be a thrilling event that combines individual efforts with team spirit. Each team will consist of 4 individuals (2 female\, 2 male) and each team member will complete a full super sprint triathlon (each member will swim\, bike\, and run – see distances above) before tagging off to a teammate\, in the order female-male-female-male. \nEntry fee: $160 per team. \nSCHEDULE\nTERMS & CONDITIONS\nONLINE REGISTRATION\n

DESCRIPTION:UC Berkeley’s 2018 Bearathlon is being held again at the Berkeley marina at 201 University Avenue\, Berkeley.\n\nThis map shows the layout of Bearathlon 2018 at the Berkeley marina. If you are familiar with Bearathlon\, the layout has changed from previous years. Our transition area is now much closer to the swim exit. Additionally\, our bike course has changed. \nThe swim start and finish are located at the Windsurf Launch dock.
