SUMMARY:Mare Island Half Marathon\, 10K & 5K
DESCRIPTION:We are so excited to be able to host our first run only event this coming up October. We will have Half Marathon\, 10K and 5K runs across to the other side of the straight on Historic Mare Island. \nOur Half Marathon course will take you along the historic naval yard on the east side of the island\, to the highest point of Mare Island for beautiful views of the Bay\, Mt. Diablo\, and Mt. Tamalpais. It will then run you down by the Old Admiral housing and out to the Mare Island portion of the San Pablo Bay trail on the western side of the island. The 10K will take you by the Old Admiral housing and the San Pablo Bay Trail before heading to the finish. The 5K race will run by the Old Admiral housing before heading to the finish. All courses are still going through the approval process and some tweaks may be made\, but the overall feel for the race should not alter too much. Parts of the run through the San Pablo Bay Trail are unpaved. \nAll participants will receive a tech shirt and finishers medal. Awards will be available for Male and Female of every category that has a minimum of three entrants. Teams will be awards in one mixed category and will also need 3 team entries for awards. \nPre-registration will close on October 3rd. Day of registration will be available however discounts will not apply. Shirt sizes will only be guaranteed for registrations prior to September 15th. Any registrations after that will be first come first serve on the sizes that are ordered. \nEvent details and schedule \nCourse Info:\nThe run will still continue over to the historic Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Course subject to change for safety reasons if deemed necessary. \nThe run does take place over a live draw bridge. We have successfully petitioned for a delay in operating hours in the past and plan to do that again this year. \nArrival Info:\nCheck-in: 409 Mare Island Way Vallejo\, CA 94590 \nPlease arrive with plenty of time before your event start time. As much as we want to be able to predict everything that will happen\, all we know is that we are going to hold our race. \nParking Info: \nWe will have a loading zone at the Start/Finish line but request that people park their vehicles in the designated parking locations. Info will be provided on our website\, in the race packet and below in the event photos. \nWhat to bring: \nVallejo being on the waterfront is subject to morning fog. SUMMARY:Stevens Creek Trailblazer Run
DESCRIPTION:Run\, Walk\, or Volunteer for the Trailblazer Race on Sunday\, September 30\, 2018 in Shoreline Park in Mountain View.  Proceeds benefit the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail and Wildlife Corridor\, the only organization dedicated to extending Stevens Creek Trail and wildlife corridor from the bay at Shoreline Park in Mountain View to the hills above Cupertino\, connecting to mountain trails going on to the Pacific coast. The 10K & 5K USATF certified races are scenic\, fast and flat running courses. The 3-mile (5K) Trail Walk is scenic and mostly level for comfortable walking.  Free children’s races follow\, along with inflatable games and face painting. The Trailblazer is a morning of fun and healthy activities for the whole family.Events start and finish just inside Shoreline Park at 2905 N Shoreline Blvd. in Mountain View. The 5 & 10 K Races circle Shoreline Park counter-clockwise\, with the 5K Race circling back near the boat house. Walkers go south on Stevens Creek Trail to La Avenida Avenue and return.Volunteers are needed from 7 to 11 am to help set-up\, direct and cheer participants along the courses\, serve food and water\, manage the children’s activities\, and help clean-up.  Can you join us?  Volunteer registration is free and includes a free race t-shirt.  A guardian’s signature is required if under 18 years old. Registered runners and walkers are welcome to also volunteer if they have time. However\, volunteer registration does not include run or walk registration.Free food\, water\, entertainment\, and entry into a drawing for valuable prizes is provided for all registered runners\, walkers\, and volunteers.The Friends of Stevens Creek Trail is the only organization dedicated to extending Stevens Creek Trail and wildlife corridor from San Francisco Bay to the Santa Cruz Mountains.  Stevens Creek Trail was started in 1993 and currently extends over 5 miles from Shoreline Park to Dale-Heatherstone in Mountain View\, close to the Sunnyvale border.  Cupertino opened its first section of trail in 2010. Los Altos and Sunnyvale are studying possible connecting routes.The Friends is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit that organizes public and private trail support\, trail and creek clean-ups\, and education programs.  Individual cities along Stevens Creek actually build the trail\, but it takes many years of preparation and hard work behind the scenes to achieve that.  Increasing public awareness\, support\, and consensus must come first\, which is what the Friends does.  Your support is greatly appreciated. \n\nOnline Registration

DESCRIPTION:The HERS Breast Cancer Foundation’s 5K/10K Run/Walk and Community Expo brings hundreds of breast cancer patients\, survivors\, and supports from all over the Bay Area. Gathering for fun and exercise\, we rally family\, friends and neighbors to raise funds to benefit survivors. The money goes to support our programs\, which provide specialty bras\, prostheses\, wigs\, and lymphedema garments that help women heal and feel whole after breast cancer treatment. Additionally\, the Peace Center hosts the annual Dennis Thomas Art & Writing Challenge. Five hundred middle and high school students participate each year and use their creative skills in the fields of writing & the arts to consider contemporary social issues.
