Bring family\, friends\, and neighbors! \nThe As I Can Foundation is excited to offer its’ 2nd Annual Ice Cream Run by Races for Braces\, featuring a 5K/10K Run. \nThroughout Jerald Asican’s life he developed a charisma second to none. Through guidance he found with his LHS counselor\, Lisa Wilson\, he had come to want to find a way to help foster-youth not only survive but thrive. As I Can Foundation takes a small piece of Jerald’s own dream to have braces and fulfills this dream for other foster youth. When Jerald first moved in with his Forever Home Foster Family he said\, “There is one thing I really want. It can be my birthday gift\, Christmas gift\, and any other gift you can think of. Please… I want braces.” And EVERY child deserves to feel good about their smile. SUMMARY:Trailblazer Race 2020
DESCRIPTION:26th Annual Trailblazer Race\nWith the pandemic\, it is uncertain if it will be safe to hold our conventional fall race in Mountain View. Realizing that many in our community like to participate in some sort of an event\, we are hosting a virtual race allowing us to continue our long-standing tradition. By participating\, you will not only support a worthy cause but have an opportunity to take charge of your mental and physical well-being. What better way than getting some exercise? With a virtual race you can run or walk anywhere and invite your friends regardless of their location to participate with you! All proceeds help us advocate for the Stevens Creek and Permanent Creek trails—their extension and improvements as well as protection of the wildlife corridors—a gift for the entire community. \nGreat Race for a Great Cause\nProceeds benefit the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail\, a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation\, and the only organization dedicated to extending Stevens Creek Trail and wildlife corridor from San Francisco Bay to the Santa Cruz Mountains. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. \nCovid Considerations\nIdeally\, come September you’ll still be able to go for a run\, hike or walk on the Stevens Creek or Permanente Creek Trails\, but even if the trails are closed\, you can still participate. You may run or walk at any time between September 18-27 making it easier to maintain social distance. To avoid contact with race organizers\, all T-shirts will be sent by mail after the race. During the pandemic\, please follow all county guidelines and recommendations for everyone’s safety and to help ensure that trail access be kept open. \nDates: Friday\, September 18 – Sunday\, September 27\nThis year you have a full 10-days to participate in one or all three events with the time\, day and location of your choosing. \nEvents: 5K Run\, 10K Run\, 3-Mile Walk\nDeadline to submit your times for the 5K\, 10K or both is Monday\, September 28. You can enter results by downloading the IYR app or send digital proof of results by email to On Your Mark Events. Walk results are not timed or able to be uploaded. If you choose not to upload any results that’s okay too! You will still receive your shirt by mail and have made a meaningful contribution. \nFees: $40 all ages\, all events 5K\, 10K or 3-mile walk\nParticipate in one or all three for one low price! Fees are non-refundable. \nT-Shirt: All paid participants receive a great Trailblazer Race T-shirt. They are Hanes Extra Beefy T’s\, soft and 100% cotton with minimal to no shrinkage. Additional charges for international orders. \nOur Premiere Event of the Year\nThe Trailblazer Race raises community awareness and essential funds allowing us to promote community involvement and pride in the completion\, enhancement and enjoyment of trails and wildlife corridors in the Stevens Creek watershed. Stevens Creek Trail was started in 1993 and currently extends over five miles from Shoreline Park to Dale-Heatherstone in Mountain View\, close to the Sunnyvale border. Cupertino opened its first section of trail in 2010 and has over one mile completed. Los Altos and Sunnyvale are studying possible connecting routes. Individual cities along Stevens Creek actually build the trail\, but it takes many years of preparation and hard work behind the scenes to achieve. Increasing public awareness\, support\, and consensus must come first\, which is the role of the Friends.
